Ways to Give

Ways to Give to ASSETS School

Every donor to ASSETS is unique.  That’s why it is so important for ASSETS to have a variety of ways to support the School.

UNRESTRICTED SUPPORT

Unrestricted gifts help fund immediate needs across the School’s spectrum of programs.  These donations provide vital support where the need is greatest and go directly to the heart of the School’s mission to provide the best possible education for Hawaii’s different learners.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Many donations go toward the tuition assistance goal that ASSETS sets each year.  ASSETS is committed to maintaining a student body that is socio-economically diverse and not defined by a family’s ability to afford tuition.   In 2006-07 tuition assistance topped $625,000 and will again in 2007-08.

PROGRAMMATIC GIFTS

Donors can also direct their gifts to specific programs.  Professional development, outreach, high school or K-8 curriculum, library, mentorship, and athletics are just some of the specific areas that can be supported.

ENDOWED FUNDS

Imagine a gift that keeps on giving!  Generous donors can create endowed funds to provide support for a specific school program in perpetuity.  The School invests the principal, and the income is used to provide the support.  Every $25,000 in endowment generates $1,000 annually.

PLANNED GIVING

Many donors to ASSETS wish they could do more for the school.  You can – through planned giving!  The easiest planned gift is to remember ASSETS in your will or trust.  In addition, there are many other ways to make a planned gift, often with tax benefits and possible lifetime income.  Contact ASSETS’ Development Office for more details.

STOCK GIFTS

Donating appreciated stock is an excellent way to help ASSETS and save twice on taxes.  Donors not only take an income tax deduction for the fair market value of gift, but they also avoid the capital gains tax on the stock’s increased value.

AUTO DONATIONS

Donating a car is another way to help ASSETS.  It is an easy process that results in a tax deduction for the donor and more funds for the School’s mission. Metal turns into money!  Additional details are available by contacting the Development Office.

MATCHING GIFTS

Many companies encourage their employees to give charitably by offering to match their gifts dollar for dollar.  All you need to do is include the company’s matching gift form with your donation.  Recent matching gift companies include: Charles Schwab, DFS Group, First Hawaiian Bank, Google, Northwestern Mutual, Merrill Lynch, and Hawaiian Electric.

The Lou Salza "TLC" Fund

A fund that honors past Head of School, Lou Salza, and the areas of funding that he found important: tuition assistance, leadership development for faculty and staff, and computer technology across the K-12 curriculum. (Click here for more information)
